August Broadcast Mind - draft
[The sun was shining upon the Kuchiki Manor, an expansive and beautiful traditional Japanese home. The water of the pond near by shifted as the koi fish swam about. Rukia herself was seated in a kimono beside Renji, who lounged with his legs hanging off the edge of the engawa leading out into the garden that spread across a portion, if not most, of the estate. Everything was calm and quiet. She could even hear insects if she closed her eyes and strained her hearing a bit for it. Something felt amiss though. This was too good to be true. Soul Society free of war and destruction? It left Rukia confused.]
Renji? Where is Nii-sama? What's going on?
[It was not Renji who answered, but her sister, preceded by the sound of a sliding door opening behind the two.]
What do you mean? Aren't we celebrating?
[Rukia's head whipped around and she found herself staring up at her sister in shock. Hisana stood at her full height but it seemed a crucial detail about her had changed. Her belly was fuller. She was with child.]
Celebrating? [Celebrating what? What was this? Yet some part of her felt a longing tug at her heart. She wanted this - her sister in her life with the rest of her little family. It would make her and her brother both happy to have her there.]
Of course! Weren't you the one who insisted we all get together? Byakuya-sama should be along in a moment. [She laughs and it makes Rukia's heart tug more.]
Sheesh, Rukia, did you hit your head or somethin'? [Her attention immediately goes back to Renji then, a look of mild irritation crossing her features as she aims to smack him on the arm, much to his amusement.]
Isn't it about time for you two to settle down too? [Hisana is thoughtful as she ponders this and all Rukia can muster is a look of abject horror.]
Set- we- we're not-!! [She looks around frantically, hoping her brother is not within earshot.]
Oi! I'm in pain over here, an' then you go and kick a man when he's down! ...With words! [Rukia's attention turns back to Renji again, her expression bouncing between confused and irritated at his quip.]
Oh! [Hisana's hands rise from her swelling belly to come together as she beams, her head turned in the direction past where Renji was sitting.] Byakuya-sama is coming this way now!
[Everything begins to fade into darkness, the images melting away like water as Rukia turns about in sleep in the tangible world.]
[ooc: Rukia is purple, Hisana is magenta and Renji is red]
